
Interfax China reported that 100,000 tonnes copper anode project in Huili County, Sichuan Province has begun production.
According to a Sichuan Daily report, construction began on the project in June 2008. It required a total investment of CNY 2.45 billion provided by Huili based Kunpeng Copper Company Limited. It is designed for the deep processing of copper concentrate, cobalt concentrate and molybdenum concentrate and will have an annual output of 100,000 tonnes of copper anode 320,000 tonnes of sulfuric acid and 10,000 tonnes of nickel.
Kunpeng Copper is 90:10 JV established by Liangshan Mining Company Limited and the Sichuan Lala Copper Mine with the former holding the larger stake. It is primarily involved in copper smelting and trading and the processing of mineral products for the chemical industry.
