Queensland Mining Corporation announced that it has discovered a new high grade sulphide mineralized zone at depth with important cobalt credits, the first recorded discovery of high grade sulphides in the area, at its Duck Creek Project, south of Cloncurry.
Reverse circulation drilling at the Horseshoe and Dulce prospects returned highlights of 36 meters at 2.66% copper, 0.23 grams per tonne of gold and 238 parts per million of cobalt from 198 meters and 37 meters at 1.72% copper, 0.17 gram per tonnes gold and 111 ppm cobalt from 186 meters.
The mineralized zone is interpreted to extend along strike to the west, linking up with the Dulce mineralization with the potential for 500 meters of strike length open to the west and at depth. This will be tested in the third phase program consisting of 2000 meters of reverse circulation and diamond drilling scheduled to begin at the end of this month.
Meanwhile, the New Dollar Mining Lease which is open along strike to the west sub parallel to the Horseshoe prospect, returned results of 3 meters at 4.03% copper from 15 meters and 19 meters at 1.31% copper from 40 meters from the same hole as well as 10 meters at 2.65% copper from 85 meters.
The Ready Rhino and Forget Me Not Prospects showed near surface sulphide mineralization of 4 meters at 3.24% copper and 0.11 gram per tonne gold from 20 meters while the Mountain Maid Mining Lease which contains mineralization open at depth and to the west, returned results of 5 meters at 1.71% copper from 23 meters.
The recently completed drill program at Duck Creek consisted of 52 reverse circulation holes for 4377 meters. The program was designed to extend known copper mineralization in the Forget Me Not, Horseshoe and Mountain Maid tenements.
Queensland Mining said this is the first recorded discovery of deep high grade sulphides in the Duck Creek area and demonstrates the exploration potential of the company’s extensive tenement position in the south Cloncurry district.
The Duck Creek Project is located about 30 kilometers south west of Cloncurry in north-west Queensland and comprises four exploration permits and 17 enclosed mining leases, covering about 173 square kilometers on the east limb of the regional Duck Creek anticline.
