Additional drilling by Rox Resources at its Mt Fisher gold project, located 450 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia, has produced gold grades of up to 16.9 grams per tonne.
At Mt Fisher, Rox has a highly prospective project area of 615 km2, where there has been historic gold production as well as high grade drill results over the project, including 1 metre at 187 g/t gold and 3 metres at 67 g/t gold at the Moray Reef prospect.
The historic Mt Fisher gold mine produced 4,500 ounces of gold from historic underground mining and 22,500 ounces of gold from open pit mining. It is still open at depth and down plunge.
A 36 hole, 5,670 metre RC drilling program was completed in early December. The results of the first 13 holes were previously reported in November.
High grade results from Moray Reef, included
- 3 metres at 15.9 g/t gold from 61 metres
- 2 metres at 16.9 g/t gold from 49 metres and
- 2 metres at 4.36 g/t gold from 141 metres
Rox may have discovered a new lode at Moray Reef where an intersection produced 4 metres at 13.9 g/t gold from just 24 metres.
At Mt Fisher mine, it was demonstrated that gold mineralisation continues beneath the Mt Fisher open pit, extending mineralization over 200 metres down plunge.
This mineralization is now thought to extend further south to the vicinity of a strong VTEM anomaly. Four holes were drilled to test this anomaly.
A resource estimate for the gold mineralization immediately below the Mt Fisher open pit will be undertaken during the next quarter.
