Shanghai copper stocks surge 37pct
Reuters reported that copper stocks in warehouses monitored by the Shanghai Futures Exchange surged by more than one third over the past 2 weeks because of strong imports in January and slower consumption during the Lunar New Year holidays.
SHFE copper stocks jumped by 36.6% or 48,246 tonnes to 179,891 tonnes over the 2 weeks from January 20th 2012. The exchange usually releases weekly figures but was shut last week for the Lunar New Year holidays.
