Dow Jones reported that Southern Copper Corporation hopes to have the Cananea copper mine in Mexico running again by the end of the year although it could take 3 to 6 months to ramp up production.

Company officials said on a conference call with analysts that they hope for a final ruling on a court case involving the mine by the end 2009.

The company said that in April, the Mexican Federal Labor Court approved the end of Cananea's labor relationships with individual and unionized employees as well as the termination of its collective bargaining agreement with its employees and with the National Mining and Metal Workers Union.
