Southern Crown Resources in less than a year of public life has delivered a maiden JORC Resource from the Xiluvo Rare Earth Element Project in Mozambique.
The Indicated Resource comprises 1.1 million tonnes at 2.05% total rare earth oxides, at a cut off grade of 1%. The soil deposit was drilled on 50 meters by 50 meters spacing with a powered sheathed auger technique was used to drill and sample more than 220 holes. Samples were then assayed by the Perth based Intertek Genalysis.
One major plus is that the resource contains a balance between light and heavy rare earth elements, containing oxides of neodymium, europium, terbium, dysprosium and yttrium which are widely known to be critically undersupplied to the global market in the next decade.
The next step for Southern Crown will be a comprehensive program of metallurgical tests to identify an optimum process to concentrate the rare earth elements from the soils
The Xiluvo project covers part of the Monte Xiluvo carbonatite complex situated in the Sofala Province of Mozambique which is 110 kilometers from the major Mozambique port of Beira.
Importantly access to Xiluvo is readily available as the complex is bound on the northern side by the paved EN6 national road and on the west and south by the national rail routes linking Zimbabwe and Beira.
