Canadian Business reported that Virgin Metals Inc has acquired the Potreritos copper deposit in Sonora, Mexico for USD 1.6 million expanding its mineral reserves and one of its mining projects.

Shares in the junior mining company were halted on the TSX on Wednesday, pending the news. The Potreritos deposit neighbors Virgin Metal's Los Verdes copper and molybdenum reserves and has the potential to expand the project.

Mr Chris Frostad CEO of Virgin Metals said that "Since the new management group became involved with Virgin Metals one of our primary goals has been to increase the size of the reserves available for the development of the Los Verdes project. The proximity, mineralogy and composition of the Potreritos deposit will allow for its incorporation into to the development of the Los Verdes operation with minimal adjustments to the engineering plans or expected capital costs."
