
It is reported that Shenzhen Zhongjin Lingnan Nonfemet operations of its refinery in Shaoguan, Guangdong Province have been suspended due to an investigation into thallium pollution.
Shaoguan city authorities recently discovered the amount of thallium in the Bei River exceeded standard levels leading to an investigation into the company Shaoguan refinery which officially suspended production on October 21.
According to Shenzhen Zhongjin Lingnan Nonfemet annual plan, the company intended to produce 325,300 tonnes of zinc and lead concentrate metals, in addition to refining 420,000 tons of zinc and lead metals, of which the Shaoguan refinery was expected to contribute 350,000 tonnes.
According to preliminary estimates the company predicts it will incur a loss of a CNY 27 million in net profits from the month long suspension.
