
APP reported that the Asian Development Bank would provide PKR 56.59 billion for different development projects. The funds would be utilized for AJK development projects including hydel power generation, highways, communication and other sectors. This was disclosed by Mr Chaudhry Latif Akbar Finance Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir while chairing a high level meeting.
The meeting was attended by Mr Reom Stroem Country Director of Asian Development Bank, Mr Muhammad Yousuf Additional Chief Secretary for Development and secretaries of different departments.
Mr Latif Akbar said that the meeting that the government is making all-out efforts to improve the living standard of the people of the liberated territory and in this regard, allocated funds would be spent on the development projects including hydel power, and minerals, besides skilled manpower.
He said that the meeting about the launching of different uplift schemes under Piyara Kashmir Programme. He added that PKR 11 billion would be spent on hydel power projects, PKR 33.42 billion for highways and PKR 12.016 billion for the communication sector respectively.
