MEED reported that Abu Dhabi Ports Company has awarded a contract to Konecranes Finland Corporation to provide stacking cranes for the new Khalifa Port.

The contract will cover the provision of 30 automated cranes for the port, which will be used to stack containers for the planned automated terminal.

The cranes will be delivered in 2 batches to the port. The first batch of 14 cranes will be delivered at the end of March 2012 with the second batch of 16 cranes delivered at the end of June 2012.

In September ADPC awarded South Korea’s Hyundai Engineering & Construction the estimated USD 390 million contracts to build the container terminal at the new port.
