Al Hassan Engineering Company SAOG has been selected by Hyundai Rotem Company for executing the Civil and Architectural work for A’Seeb Wastewater Project being undertaken by Oman Wastewater Services Company. The Muscat Wastewater Treatment Plant at A’Seeb is established with a total project outlay of USD1 billion and is divided into five main contracts.

In June 2008, OWSC signed a contract worth RO 88 million for the main Wastewater Treatment Plant with Hyundai Rotem Company from Korea. In turn, Hyundai Rotem Company has selected AHEC. The contract value of the project is about RO 16.5 million with completion duration of 27 months. The plant designed to treat 80,000 cubic meters of sewage waste water per day, will meet the projected demand up to the year 2030 in the region. The plant utilizes special technology known as Sequential Batch Reactor process and ultra-filtration.

The process selection was done based on available processes in international market. The main Sewage Treatment Plant unit will be located at Seeb about 45 km from Muscat and will also have main pumping stations and storage facilities for treated effluents. The STP will be designed to have odorless treated water output which will be mainly used for irrigation purposes. AHEC has been awarded this job based on the excellent credentials it has in major industrial projects involving Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation works.

The ground breaking ceremony and HSE awareness program were recently conducted at the main STP site which were graced by Dr Omar bin Khalfan al Wahaibi CEO of Oman Wastewater Services Company and Mr Hassan Ali Salman chairman of AHEC. The function was also attended by senior executives from OWSC, Hyundai Rotem Company, AHEC and Parsons International and Company LLC who are the designated project consultant for this project.

Dr Wahaibi expressed his happiness and complimented Hyundai Rotem on selecting AHEC, one of the reputed and trusted Omani construction companies for this job especially considering the criticality of the work involved. Hassan Ali Salman in his address assured full commitment to successful execution of the work keeping in mind the cost, schedule, quality and safety. He appealed to all parties to work as one team and to make this project of national importance, a grand success.
