Construction Week reported that Al Jaber has been contracted by Abu Dhabi Tourism Development and Investment Company to build villas on Saadiyat Island. Under the contract, Al Jaber will work on the Saadiyat Beach Residences development.
Last month Hilalco was awarded the USD 61 million, 18 month infrastructure contract for the project.
53 million cubic meter of sand has been reclaimed from the sea bed and distributed across huge sections of the island to create a gentle slope towards the ocean, so affording sea views for the villa communities in Saadiyat Beach. This has also allowed for the expressway to be dug into the island itself to restrict noise for the planned 160,000 residents.
Saadiyat Island is TDIC’s USD 27 billion leisure project. The project is split into 7 districts, Cutural, Marina, Promenade, Reserve, Lagoons, Retreat and Beach and also includes museums designed by Pritzker Prize winning architects.
