
It is reported that Amana Contracting and Steel Buildings has completed the construction of its new steel workshop and labor camp in Doha.
As per the report, the production in the steel workshop is expected to commence in December 2008. The labor camp comprises three buildings and will have a capacity to accommodate 750 employees.
Mr Ghassan Assaf GM of Amana Qatar said that “The construction of the steel workshop in Doha follows the success of our first workshop built in Sharjah in 2006. The new workshop will play a pivotal role in augmenting our investments in the industries and manufacturing sectors expansion in GCC, and also help in catering to our clients in Qatar in a better way. The starting capacity of the workshop will be 500 tonnes per month, which will be increased to 1,000 tonnes per month shortly.”
Mr. Assaf added that “The labor facility will be the first Amana owned camp and fourth in our current list of camps in Qatar. The new camp will comprise the latest recreational, dining facilities and other amenities designed for comfortable living. The employees have been an integral part of our tremendous growth and the facility is in line with our commitment to their interests and comfort.”
Mr Omar Uwayda manager of steel division of Amana Qatar also said that “At the workshop, we will initially focus on fabrication of buildings and structures consisting of hot rolled steel members. Phase two of the project will consist of increasing the capacity to 1,000 tonnes per month with the possibility of adding cold rolling equipment.”
