Emirati HDG producer Asian Ispat FZ LLC plans to start trial production at an HDG line capable of producing some 60,000 tonnes. Earlier the company planned the start up in January but rescheduled the whole construction project due to problems with power supply at the site.

The company plans to start commercial production of HDG coils 1.0mm to 3.5mm thick and 450mm to 650mm wide within four months after completion of hot trials.

At present, Asian Ispat operates an HDG line which was launched in December 2010, producing 7,000 t per month. In future the capacity may be increased if demand is strong.

Feedstock is imported from South Korea and Japan, as well as supplied by the parent company Asian Colour Coated Ispat Limited which operates mills in India. At present, the entire output is sold domestically but the company plans to start exporting some volumes to the Middle East, Europe and Africa.
