Gulf Daily reported that Bahrain has signed a deal with Russian state owned energy giant Gazprom that will see the latter delivering gas to the country as well as potentially carrying out exploration work in the Gulf state.
As per report, a multi cooperation deal had been signed between the Russian firm and Bahrain’s National Oil and Gas Authority.
Mr Abdulhussain Mirza oil and gas affairs minister of Bahrain said that "Gazprom will initially start exporting natural gas and other forms of gas to Bahrain. We could also, in the long run, look at setting up a pipeline between the two countries."
Mr Mirza said that Noga was planning to drill deeper than ever before for gas in Bahrain and that international expertise could prove useful. Discussions with Gazprom have so far focused on importing gas into Bahrain.
