Bahrain Petroleum Company has signed a new 5 year participant membership agreement with UK based Oil Spill Response Limited.
This sees them joining an elite group of worldwide oil companies and providing Bapco with enhanced capabilities in the handling of Tier-2 and Tier-3 oil spill incidents. The area of coverage extends to the whole of Bahrain and its territorial waters.
Mr Archibald Smith CEO of ORSL said at the signing ceremony attended by Bapco's senior management, environmental affairs adviser and maintenance division key staff that since the Transocean Oil Spill in 2010, the international community was still feeling its effects. Because of this, there had been extended interest from many oil companies in upgrading or joining Oil Spill Response Limited, taking the initiative and opportunity as ordinary or associate members.
Mr Smith said that this showed Bapco's dedication to preserving the environment by boosting its existing membership. Bapco is now assured of the best benchmarking, best practices and cutting edge technology available today and into the future in the oil spill business to guarantee success as an environmental champion for the greater good of Bahrain and its neighbors.
