Mr Mahfooz Elahi president of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry meeting with a delegation of Steel Fabricators Association lead by its president Mr Aslam Sagir said that in different sectors and commercial areas of Islamabad, workshops of steel fabricators, auto and furniture are established that requires a big space to run business.
He said that it was difficult for these businessmen to run businesses in an area of 10 x 20 feet, resulting they have to do encroachment. CDA with the efforts of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry had allotted 300 to 400 plots in sector I-10/3 but now the number of workshops has increased in the city and he appealed Mr Imtiaz Inayat Elahi chairman of CDA to give orders for the allotment of alternate place for the workshops of steel fabricators.
The president of the Association Mr Aslam Sagir and general secretary Mr Chaudhry Irfan expressing their views thanked Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry for providing support to the small traders and hoped that ICCI will continue it in future as well.
They said that 72 plots were allotted to the steel fabricators where workshops are operating but CDA does not allow constructing flats on these plots due to which workers and technical workforce faces problems of residence.
They emphasized that CDA should allot plots to the remaining workshops and shift these outside city to avoid encroachments. The representatives of the delegation said that in markets, it is difficult to run business of steel fabrication in small shops thus problem of encroachment cannot be tackled.
