The News reported that a delegation of Chinese firm on Friday called on Chief Minister Sindh, Mr Syed Qaim Ali Shah at the CM House and informed him that they intended to invest up to USD 15 billion to generate 10,000 MW by 2020.

It was informed that the Chinese team has done feasibility on Thar Coal. The head of the Chinese delegation Mr Wang Shaofeng senior VP of China Three Gorges International Corporation informed that under a master plan, their Corporation intends to spend a sum of USD 15 billion by 2020 on different projects including generation of power of 10,000 MW.

He added that they were keen for Thar Coal and mining project, and fully devoted to work mostly in Sindh province and particularly in improvement of area under Thar Coal field.

Mr Wang said that their corporation intended to initiate two hydel power projects with generation of 2000 MW, generate 200 MW on Solar Energy and generation of 2000 MW by wind power out of which 1000 MW power will be generated in Sindh province, while the remaining 1000 MW will be generated in other parts of Pakistan.

The chief minister approved grant of land of 50 acres for project of power generation on Coal at Souda - Jherruk (District Thatta), where instead of 400 MW power up to 1000 MW will be generated.

The CM informed the delegation of China Three Gorges International Corporation that the Sindh government will provide all incentives for development and progress of Thar Coal and energy project so as to achieve the target of power generation on coal.
