
MEED reported that Abu Dhabi's Tourism Development & Investment Company has invited contractors to bid by 10 June for the contract to build 295 villas on Saadiyat Island.
The pre-qualifiers include Al-Faraa General Contracting Company, Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises, Arabtec Construction, ANC, ETA Ascon Group, Al-Jaber Group, Civilco Civil Engineering & Contracting Company, all local, the local/Lebanese Arabian Construction Company, and UK-based Laing O'Rourke.
The contract replaces an agreement signed by TDIC with Arabtec in May 2008 to design and build 560 villas. Arabtec's contract included all associated infrastructure works.
Saadiyat Island is one of the largest projects in the UAE. It includes hotels, villas and a cultural district.
