MEED reported that Scottish firm Downhole Products has won various drilling equipment orders from some of the region’s largest oil and gas companies.

The Aberdeen based company has secured a USD 5 million order from Saudi Aramco to provide a product called centralizers for the state run firm’s 900,000 barrel per day Manifa oil field. A centralizer is a device which helps the steel casing sections which line wells move up and down without causing any damage.

The Scottish company was also awarded a USD 1 million contract by Dubai Petroleum Company for centralizers and associated products. Dubai Petroleum operates all of Dubai’s offshore fields, consisting of the Rashid, Fateh, Southwest Fateh and Falah fields.

Downhole Products has also been invited to trial its centralizer products for the state run National Iranian Oil Company.

According to the company, it is moving its Middle East base to the UAE’s Jebel Ali from Bahrain in late September as part of its growth plans.
