Dubai Municipality has warned that consultants and contractors using steel for concrete reinforcing that does not bear the Conformity Mark from the Dubai Central Laboratory will be liable for any accidents or problems as a result.
In a circular issued to contractors and consultants by the municipality, its building department stresses the importance of confirming that the suppliers of all iron and steel products including but not limited to, steel bars and coils, PC steel wires and stands, couples etc which are imported to work sites have registered and obtained the Conformity Mark from the DCL.
This is part of the municipality’s move to ensure the safety of construction projects and to ensure that suppliers and manufacturers have obtained registration certificates.
