
Emirates Business 24/7 reported that Around 2,000 tonnes of equipment including all steel framing and synchronous jacks are being used on the Dubai Pearl Construction site.
Mr Santhosh Joseph CEO of Dubai Pearl Construction said that the MEP and aluminium and glazing tender on the Dubai Pearl project has been issued by the main contractor and is scheduled to be finalized by September. Meanwhile, the construction costs were brought down from AED 9 billion plus to AED 7.4 billion. The project is expected to complete by end 2012 or beginning of 2013. The lifts and escalators tender has been issued by the main contractor and a sub contractor will be on board by October 15.
He said that the project has already got the pre Gold Leed rating and it took us some time to achieve it. We are in the middle of getting the Gold Certification.
Dubai Pearl is to be built entirely on urban infill. The site is surrounded to the north by the existing development of Knowledge Village and to the south by the existing Media and Internet Cities. Schweger Association Architects are the design consultants while Al Habtoor Leighton is the main contractor on the project. Around 30,000 people are expected to live within this mixed use development which has additional anchors such as wellness, sport and entertainment.
According to a construction update from the developer, sent to the paper, the casting of core wall up to LP3 has been completed and striking of scaffoldings and formworks for beams at P3 level is in progress on Tower 1. The logo installation on jump form has been completed. The concreting of core wall P3 and P4 level and the reinforcement of core wall L5 L6 level will be done this month. On Tower 2, rebar works for core wall at B1 level have been completed, scaffolding and platform work for beam P1 level is ongoing and all B1 level columns are casted.
The concreting of core wall B1 P1 level, P1 P2 level and concreting of LP1 columns will take place this month. On Tower 3, the rebar works for core wall P1- P2 level is in progress, the installation of lower frame platform for core wall jump form system is ongoing as well as the rebar works and platform for construction of beams at P2 level. The concreting of core wall P2 P3 level, P3 P4 level and cast in situ slab and beams at LP1 level will take place this month. On Tower 4, the platform for jump form system is ongoing while the concreting of LB1 columns and alignment of jump form shutters will take place this month.
