Egypt based long steel producer Elmarakby Steel will build its first meltshop to produce steel billets from scrap.
Mr Hassan Elmarakby deputy CEO of Elmarakby Steel said that the meltshop with an annual capacity of 350,000 tonnes will feed the company's existing rolling mill of 240,000 tonnes per year capacity and the rest will be sold to the domestic market or overseas. The meltshop to be located in Giza like the rolling mill is expected to be operational by the end of 2013.
Mr Elmarakby stated that the company plans to build a second rolling mill with an annual production capacity of 350,000 tonnes following the commissioning of the meltshop.
