Khaleej Times reported that Emaar Properties will complete the tower this year but could not disclose the exact date when the building
 will be opened.

A spokesperson of Emaar said that "Burj Dubai is scheduled to open this year."

Emaar, which recently announced it was planning to merge with the real estate business of Dubai Holdings, said that "more details on the official launch will be provided in due course."

The tower which consists of about 160 floors was originally scheduled for completion in September this year. Shares of Emaar which are listed at the Dubai Financial Market, dropped by 5.8% to AED 2.28 on July 13th.
