MEED reported that contractors expect emirate to award USD 28 billion worth of contracts over the year and oil and gas engineering firms are preparing to bid on two USD 100 million plus gas pipeline contracts in Abu Dhabi as the emirate's appetite for new projects shows no sign of abating.
As per report, Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Company is tendering both of the engineering, procurement and construction deals.
The first is for a pipeline to replace the existing transit system for 'lean' gas, linking the Thamma C production facilities in the northeast of the country with the Asab facilities in the southwest. The winning bidder will build a 36 inch pipeline that is more than 100 kilometers long and decommission the existing pipeline. Contractors value the project at USD 100 million to USD 150 million.
The original deadline for technical bids outlining proposed engineering works on the project was early July, but Gasco extended the deadline to August 4th after contractors asked for more time.
Among the main contenders for the deal are Lebanon's Contracting & Trading, the US' Willbros, Paris based Technip, India's Larsen & Toubro, the local National Petroleum Construction Company, Punj Lloyd, also of India and the local Dodsal.
The second deal covers the construction of a 50 kilometer long, 48 inch diameter pipeline linking the new German/UAE Elixier nitrogen plant at Mirfa and the Habshan oil field. Gasco will inject the gas into the reservoir to increase pressure and maintain output.
Gasco is currently pre qualifying firms for the deal, which it values at about USD 100 million. Contractors expect Gasco to issue an invitation to bid in late July.
