It is reported that Galfar Engineering & Contracting Group has been awarded an OMR 10.1 million contract by the Justice Ministry to build a court building at Nizwa. The work will involve the construction of a four storey courthouse and associated facilities. The work will take 12 months to complete.
Galfar beat competition from four other groups to win the contract. The other groups that submitted bids were the local Abu Hatim Company, the local UK Douglas OHI group, the local UK Carillion Alawi and Indian firm Larsen & Toubro.
In June 2010, the ministry of justice awarded UK Carillion Alawi an OMR 9.8 million contract to build a court building in Rustaq, located in the north east of Oman. The ministry had received bids from the same five contractors that submitted prices for the court premises project in Nizwa.
