Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Company has selected the Netherland’s Tebodin Consultants & Engineers for a project management and consultancy deal for its new gas flaring system at the Habshan field in the southwest of the emirate.

Tenders for the engineering, procurement and construction contract estimated at about USD 100 million are expected to be launched before the end of the year with a contract award in May 2011. The deal will include the construction of an acid gas removal unit, dehydration unit, pipelines and offsites and utilities.

Gasco currently produces about 5 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas from associated and non associated fields. The company plans to lift production to 7 billion cubic feet per day with the completion of its Integrated Gas Development by 2013.

According to a source close to the scheme, Australia’s Worley Parsons has completed the front end engineering and design work. A senior source at Gasco says the company is close to awarding two major projects. In October, a consortium lead by Italy’s Techint emerged as the frontrunner to win the contract for a new sulphur handling and export terminal at Ruwais. India’s Dodsal submitted the lowest price for a deal to build a sulphur station at Habshan.
