Georgia scrap exports to Turkey down 65pct in Q1

According to the data provided by the National Statistics Office of Georgia, in the Q1 of this year, Georgia's ferrous scrap exports to Turkey, the country's main trading partner, amounted to 30,098 tonnes decreasing by 64.7% YoY.

The revenue generated by these exports came to USD 11 million down 64.5% from the year ago figure indicating that the country's average export price for ferrous scrap to Turkey in the period in question was USD 368 per tonne up slightly from USD 366 per tonne in the corresponding period of 2011.

Meanwhile, in the given period Georgia's ferroalloy exports to Turkey increased more than sixfold as compared to the January to March period of 2011 reaching 6,316 tonnes.
