Georgia scraps exports to Turkey down by 70pct in Jan-Aug

According to the data provided by the National Statistics Office of Georgia, In the first 8 months of 2012, Georgia's ferrous scrap exports to Turkey the country's main trading partner amounted to 62,014 tonnes decreasing by 69.6% YoY.

The country's ferrous scrap exports to Turkey have been declining on a cumulative basis more than a year since the January to July period of 2011. The revenue generated by these exports fell to USD 22.6 million, down 69.9 percent from the year ago figure indicating that the country's average export price for ferrous scrap to Turkey in the period in question was USD 364 per tonne down from USD 369 per tonne in the corresponding period of 2011.

Meanwhile, in the given period Georgia's ferroalloy exports to Turkey decreased 12.1% as compared to the January to August period of 2011 totaling 12,427 tonnes.
