TradeArabia News Service reported that DP World operated Hamriya Port in Dubai recently received its largest general cargo ship the MV Veesham Oak.

The vessel, built in South Korea in 1984, is owned by Veesham Shipping and has a 4,944 square meter deck with a holding capacity of 20,602 cubic meters. At 156.24 meters long and 22 meters wide, the Panama registered Veesham Oak is the largest ship to dock at Hamriya Port to date.

Special arrangements were made on the Wharf to help the cargo vessel dock at port, which is usually the preferred port of call for much smaller cargo ships and dhows.

The Hamriya port, which is located in Deira, off the northeastern coast of the city, plays a key role in facilitating non containerized cargo movements between Dubai, Gulf ports and ports of East Africa. Food, automobile spare parts, and livestock comprise the bulk of trade through this port.

Mr Mohammed Al Muallem SVP & MD of DP World UAE region said that "Receiving and successfully servicing the Veesham Oak is a significant achievement for Hamriya Port, the smallest of DP World, UAE region’s facilities."
