
MEED reported that the UK’s Hyder Consulting is the low bidder for a water transmission consultancy contract in Bahrain.
As per report, the company submitted 4 prices for the contract, ranging from BHD 3.4 million to BHD 5.7 million. 4 other companies bid for the contract which is part of the country’s water transmission development plans until 2012.
Mott MacDonald also of the UK priced the project at BHD 3.8 million. The Netherlands’ Tebodin bid BHD 5.1 million followed by the UK’s Atkins at BHD 6.3 million. US based firm MWH bid BHD 9 million. The 5 bidders had submitted their technical bids for the contract on June 4th 2009.
The transmission project involves the construction of 165 kilometres of new pipelines, most of which will be more than 1 metre in diameter. These will transfer 48 million gallons per day of water from the Addur independent water and power project, now under construction.
