According to the Iranian Mining and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization, Iran's Jalal Abad iron ore mine produced about 700,000 tonnes of iron ore in the first 9 months of the current Iranian year with an increase of 22% compared with 572,000 tonnes in the corresponding period of the last Iranian year.

The Jalal Abad iron ore mine, located close to Zaran city in the south eastern Iranian province of Kerman has iron ore reserves estimated at over 220 million tonnes.
