Tehran Times cited Mr Vajihollah Jafari deputy industry minister of Iran as saying that Iran plans to produce 75 million tonnes of cement by the end of the current Iranian calendar year. The total cement production capacity will reach 86 million tonnes.

Iran’s cement output amounted to 30.5 million tonnes in the first 5 months of the current year. The output was 3.2% higher compared to the same period last year. Iran produced over 66.4 million tonnes of cement in the past calendar year showing 8% rise compared to the year before.

Mr Mehdi Ghazanfari Industry, Mine and Trade minister of Iran has said that the country's current cement production capacity stands at 74 million tonnes. The figure will reach 110 million tonnes by 2015.
