MNA reported that Iran’s Oil Ministry had already devised the necessary strategies to address energy challenges.
The EU formally adopted an oil embargo against Iran and agreed a freeze on the assets of the Central Bank of Iran while existing contracts will be honored until July 1.
Following is the text of the Oil Ministry statement:
Through the imposition of sanctions on Iranian oil, the European Union involved oil which is not a political tool, in political games to political purposes and the consequences of this hasty decision will affect the world’s other countries besides Europe.
It must be noted that only 18% of Iran’s oil exports are destined for European countries and the rest of Iran’s oil exports is sold on other international markets.
Given the supply and demand market and potential buyers of Iran’s oil, there is no concern about replacing buyers of Iranian oil with new customers. The people of Islamic Iran should be confident that the Oil Ministry of the Islamic Republic of Iran without getting involved in tensions and political arguments has been making the necessary preparations since a long time ago and has worked out the necessary strategies to confront any challenge in regard to the issue of energy.
A number of the consequences of the EU’s hasty decision to impose sanctions on Iranian oil are as follows:
1. The use of oil as a tool and the unconventional use of it in political equations governing the world which will set a dangerous precedent in the world.
2. The infliction of a heavy economic loss caused by sanctions on Iranian oil on the people in Europe, who have been affected by crisis, and in developed and developing countries.
3. An increase in global oil prices and a slowdown in global economic growth, particularly in the crisis-hit Western world.
4. Volatility in regard to the security of energy supply and demand in the world.
5. The infliction of extra and huge costs on consumers of oil products in Europe.
6. The aggravation of economic crisis in countries whose economies are in disarray, particularly European countries.
