
Tehran Times reported that the gas output of Iran's South Pars gas field reached 1.2 billion cubic meters in the week ended September 22nd 2009.
As per report, the mentioned amount accounted for 35% of the country’s total produced gas in the week. Besides injection to the cross country gas pipeline, the produced gas is being fed to Jam and Pars petrochemical complexes.
Another portion of the South Pars gas field’s output is also being injected to Aghajari oil wells. Some 1.585 million barrels of gas condensates have also been produced in the giant South Pars gas field in the mentioned period.
The South Pars and North Dome field is a gas condensate field located in the Persian Gulf. It is the world's largest gas field shared between Iran and Qatar. This gas field covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, of which 3,700 square kilometers is in Iranian territorial waters and 6,000 square kilometers is in Qatari territorial waters.
