
Aswat al Iraq reported that Mr Asim Jihad Oil ministry spokesman denied Iranian support to Iraqi candidate to OPEC General Secretariat during the coming meeting.
Mr Asim Jihad said that Iran Saudi Arabia and Ecuador nominated their representatives which negate Iranian possible support to Iraqi nominee Thamer al Ghadhban for this post. A number of media organs reported, during Iranian oil ministers visit to Baghdad that Iran will support Iraqi nominee.
Mr Jihad pointed out that Iraqi nominee is the most qualified personality among others due to his expertise in oil affairs, in addition to his independent stands in Iraqi politics. OPEC sessions will be held on June 12th to 16th 2012 instant in Austrian capital, Vienna.
The meetings of the OPEC come within the economic crisis inflicting the Euro area and the Greek crisis, in particular. Added to all these, the US economic situation and the decline in growth and the increase in unemployment that will affect oil markets including the expected Iranian oil sanctions during the coming weeks.
