Arab Steel reported that rebar quotes in the local Jordanian market for grade 60 are in between JOD 560 per tonne to JOD 574 per tonne EXW free on truck.
According to the list of quotes issued by the Jordan Chamber of Industry in cooperation and agreement with local steel mills, the new price shall reach JOD 605 per tonne to JOD 620 per tonne after adding 8% of tax on sales.
Local steel mills sources said that the rebar uptrend in Jordan is attributed to the rise in production costs and the increase in imported billet prices reaching USD 635 C&F Syrian ports before adding transport costs to Jordan for contracts concluded this week. Local scrap prices also reached JOD 260, thus rising by nearly JOD 100 within one month.
Meanwhile, steel mills in Jordan, around 10 in number, review their prices on a regular and weekly basis, so that prices express the changes in inputs cost, either globally or locally.
