
The News reported that the Karachi Port Trust handled a cargo volume of 107,060 tonnes comprising 60,940 tonnes of imports and 46,120 tonnes of exports during the last 24 hours.
As per report, 6 ships, carrying tankers were allotted berths at the port, while another six ships, carrying tankers and containers of general cargo, sailed out during the period. Five ships are expected to depart and another eight ships, carrying containers of coal, wheat and naphtha are due to arrive at the outer anchorage of the port.
Meanwhile, Port Qasim handled a cargo volume of 99,484 tonnes comprising 67,079 tonnes of imports and 32,405 tonnes of exports during the last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was measured at 77% at the port where 10 ships are currently occupying berths to load and offload palm oil, furnace oil and containers of cement and wheat respectively.
The port witnessed brisk shipping activity where five ships, carrying palm oil were allotted berths at the Qasim International Container Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively. Another three ships, carrying furnace oil, also arrived at the outer anchorage of the port.
