In July 2010 Konecranes received its second RTG order from Turkey this year. The order is for five electrically fed RTG (rubber tired gantry) cranes to be delivered to port operator NEMPORT in Nemrut at Aliaga Bay of Turkey. These Konecranes RTGs will be the first electrically fed, eco efficient RTGs to be operated in Turkey. Delivery is scheduled for March 2011. The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the order.
Konecranes' electrically fed RTGs, equipped with cable reels, reduce local emissions by up to 95% the cranes run on electricity from the local grid, not from a diesel generator. They do not use hydraulics.
The RTG cranes in this delivery have a lifting capacity of 40 tonnes. They can stack one over 6 containers high and seven plus truck lane wide.
NEMPORT is a forward-thinking port operator that emphasizes eco efficient technology in its operations at its new container terminal in Nemrut Aliaga bay, located close to the Izmir area. The new terminal, also called NEMPORTwill handle import and export traffic for the domestic Turkish market and local industry.
Mr Kim Salvén sales manager port cranes of Konecranes said that “This is a very important breakthrough for Konecranes: it’s our second delivery to Turkey this year and the first ever electrically fed RTGs in Turkey. Furthermore, it expands our electrically-fed RTG fleet in Europe to 20 units. This order is evidence that NEMPORT appreciates the eco efficiency and performance of our RTGs and overall offering for container terminals, as well as our good reputation.”
