KUNA reported that Kuwait parliament approved in its session a bill to suspend the work of the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the subject of calcinated coal and refer the issue to the Audit Bureau for examination.

The bureau will, in its turn, submit a report in this regard to the parliament within 3 months.

The bill stated that the commission refers all of its documents regarding the issue to the Audit Bureau, which will examine and not investigate them. The proposal came after a verbal skirmish among MPs on the technical issues associated with the work of the committee, secrecy of meetings, impartiality and people authorized to speak.

The parliament also approved a proposal to task the government to transfer periodic reports to the parliament on issues of squandering public money and then charge the committee for protecting public funds to follow up on the issue.
