
Lamprell, a leading provider of specialist engineering services to the international oil and gas and renewables industry, has announced that it has been awarded two new construction contracts by Nexen Petroleum UK Limited in relation to the Golden Eagle Development in the UK North Sea with a total contract value in excess of USD 200 million.
The first contract comprises a two level Wellhead Deck, measuring approximately 50 meters by 50 meters and weighing approximately 4,000 tonnes. The W Deck will be constructed at Lamprell’s Jebel Ali yard and is scheduled for completion in Q2 2013.
The second contract is for a three level Production, Utilities and Quarters Deck, measuring 85 meters by 40 meters and weighing approximately 10,000 tonnes. The PUQ Deck will also be constructed at Lamprell’s Jebel Ali facility and is scheduled for completion in Q2 2014.
Lamprell, based in the UAE, is the regional market leader in the rig market providing specialized services to the on and offshore oil and gas industry. Lamprell employs over 11,000 people across six facilities with primary facilities in Hamriyah, Sharjah and Jebel Ali, all of which are in the UAE and in Saudi Arabia.
The principal markets in which Lamprell operates and the principal services it provides, are:
1. Engineering, procurement and construction of jackup rigs, liftboats and drilling related equipment;
2. Upgrade and refurbishment of offshore jackup rigs;
3. New build construction for the offshore oil and gas sector including Floating Production, Storage and Offloading systems and other offshore and onshore structures;
4. Onshore fabrication and downstream process facilities and
5. Oilfield engineering services, including the upgrade, refurbishment and new building of land rigs.
