
Arab News reported that Saudi Industrial Property Authority recently signed the Baha Industrial City development project which includes construction of 7 kilometers long road linking the industrial city with the road between Al Aqeeq and Taif. The SAR 50 million projects also include the development of Phase 1 of the industrial city of 1 million square meters.
Mr Tawfig bin Fawzan Alrabiah DG of MODON said that the area of Baha Industrial City is 3 million square meters while the Phase I of an area of 1 million square meters will be developed. The duration of the project is 18 months. During the next 3 months, businessmen wishing to establish industrial projects will be allowed to apply for the allocation of land through MODON's website. The land will be allocated to industrialists in conjunction with the city's development works.
MODON seeks to contribute to the development of all regions of the Kingdom by establishing industrial cities to develop the Kingdom's regions economically and provide job opportunities to citizens as well as take advantage of raw materials and mineral wealth available in different regions of the country.
The industrial city will be an attractive investment environment, especially since it is located in an area that is rich in primary resources such as gold, which is found in Al Aqeeq reservoir and Jedma reservoir; copper and zinc, which is found in Rabzan reservoir and Jedma reservoir; tin which is available in Abla reservoir; barrett which is available in the form of veins in the Al Aqeeq area; feldspar metal which is found in the Abla area and is used in many industries, the most important of which are glass and ceramic industry and abrasion materials; fluorite which is also found in the Abla area and is used in many industries, the most important of which are hydrofluoric acid, ceramics and foundry of metals and ornamental stones such as marble and granite.
MODON currently oversees 20 industrial cities in different regions of the Kingdom Riyadh 1 & 2, Jeddah 1 & 2, Dammam 1 & 2, Makkah, Madinah, Qassim, Al Ahsa, Assir, Al Jouf, Tabuk, Hail, Najran, Jazan, Al Kharj and Arar in addition to Sudair City for Industry and Business and Rabigh complex for plastic industries. The industrial cities are regarded as the infrastructure to accommodate industrial projects which have contributed to the accommodation of 3,000 industrial projects that represent 60% of Saudi factories with investments exceeding SAR 250 billion.
