According to the data released by the Turkish Home Appliance Industrialists Association, the home appliance market in Turkey saw 21% YoY growth in the H1 of this year. The significant growth rate is partly due to the low level in the Q1 of last year. The home appliance market in Turkey is expected to grow by more than 10% YoY in 2011.
According to the BESD's report, in the January to May period of 2011 overall home appliance sales in western Europe increased by about 1% while in Russia home appliance sales increased by approximately 35% both compared to the corresponding period of 2010.
However, in the first 5 months this year in North Africa overall home appliance demand declined in parallel with the region's political and social situation with sales to the region falling compared to the same period last year. The report emphasizes that rising raw material and transport costs adversely affect profitability in the home appliance sector.
