Iran's main flat steel producer, state run Mobarakeh Steel intends to double the output capacity of its subsidiary Hormozgan Steel.

Mr Mohammad Masoud Samienejad MD of Mobarakeh said that "At present we are negotiating with foreign plantmakers for the expansion of Hormozgan Steel's annual capacity from 1.5 million tonnes to 3 million tonnes."

Hormozgan Steel which produces steel slabs was bought by Mobarakeh a few months ago. Hormozgan Steel located in Bandar Abbas in the Persian Gulf was put into operation earlier this year.
