Emirates Business 24/7 reported that most workers in the UAE want authorities to extend a midday work ban during the scorching summer season from 2 to 3 months.
The Ministry of Labour said that more than 15,000 respondents took part in the poll which was conducted by the Ministry on its website within a policy to curb job accidents and ensure protection of workers at open construction sites.
The Ministry of Labor has enforced 2 month mid day work ban during summer over the past few years extending from July 15th to September 15th 2012 between 12.30 and 3.00 pm during work days.
The survey showed nearly 11,340 respondents favor an extension of the period to three months from June 15th to September 15th 2012.
The Ministry of Labor did not make clear whether the poll results mean it would take a decision to extend the work ban during next summer.
