Press TV cited Ahmad Sadeqi deputy roads and urban development minister of Iran as saying that some 10,400 kilometers of railway tracks are currently being laid throughout the country.

Mr Ahmad Sadeqi said that Iran is planning to expand its rail network to new destinations noting that under an agreement between Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan a rail line connecting the northern Iranian city of Gorgan to Inche Boroon town along the border with Turkmenistan will become operational by the end the Iranian calendar month of Mehr.

He stated that 3,200 kilometers of freeways and 5,000 kilometers of highways are also under construction in the country and their completion will hugely boost the nation’s economic and social development.

Billions of dollars in participation bonds will be offered by Iran's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development throughout the current Iranian calendar year.
