New Iranian steel plant Bardsir Steel, located close to Bardsir city in the southeastern Iranian province of Kerman is expected to be put into operation in early 2013.

The plant comprises a direct reduced iron module of 1 million tonnes annual capacity and a melt shop also with an annual capacity of 1 million tonnes. Construction of the DRI plant already has progressed about 25% physically, while construction of the melt shop has started recently. Bardsir Steel is one of the many projects of MIDHCO a holding company which belongs to Iran based Bank Pasargad.
