Gulf News reported that state run Petroleum Development Oman has issued 3 tenders for the construction of steam production facilities and a power plant in the south of the country.

As per report, PDO is Oman's largest oil producer and an affiliate of Royal Dutch Shell. It pumped 633,000 barrels per day of Oman's crude and condensate output of 757,000 barrels per day in 2008.

The first contract on offer was for the construction of processing facilities for feed water, steam, oil and gas along with their associated utilities. The second includes the installation of aquifer pumps and pipelines.

The report said that the work under both contracts will be at the Amal crude field for its steam production facilities. Companies interested in bidding have until February 7th 2010 to make submissions to PDO. The award date is scheduled to be in June 2010.
