Pakistan and Turkmenistan want early completion of TAPI project

The Second Session of the Pakistan and Turkmenistan Joint Governmental Commission underlined necessity to accelerate efforts for TAPI gas pipeline project in order to begin construction of this gas pipeline on priority.

Turkmenistan side informed that they have initiated to organize the Steering committee meeting of the TAPI gas pipeline project on September 15th to 17th 2010 in Ashgabat which will approve the initial texts of relevant Agreements and multilateral documents by all the four countries, ie Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan and India.

The Second Session of the Pakistan and Turkmenistan Joint Governmental Commission was held in Islamabad on August 24th to 25th 2010. The Pakistan delegation was led by Mr Nawabzada Malik Amad Khan minister of state for foreign affairs and the Turkmenistan delegation was led by Mr Rashid Meredov vice Premier and minister of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the discussion, delegates from both countries presented various proposals to enhance cooperation in the fields of Trade, Energy, Agriculture & Livestock, Science & Technology, Education, Health, Sports and Tourism.
