
APP cited Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo Pakistan’s federal minister for industries and production as saying that a special strategy has been evolved to enhance productivity of Karachi based Pakistan Steel Mill Corporation.
He said that under the program the production of steel mill would be increased to 8 million tonnes from current 1.1 million tonnes.
The report added that Pakistan government is making strenuous efforts for setting industrial sector in motion without any hurdle and has adopted far reaching approach for resolving the problems and difficulties being confronted by the industrial sector on top priority basis.
Mr Manzoor Wattoo further said that the government has taken drastic steps for overcoming energy crisis and under the program 4300 MW electricity would be added in national grid by December 2009.
He said that special steps had also been taken for the revival of sick industrial units and in this connection SMEDA has been given the task to conduct comprehensive study on sick industrial units in the country.
